Original Opus One by Pipe Organs Victoria with initial construction by Knud Smenge Box Organ for sale
Instrument Description
We have an opportunity for anyone wishing to acquire a high-quality instrument with flexible tonal potential. The organ was originally begun by Knud Smenge, and includes his signature quality craftsmanship in the polished hardwood casework, windchest and stop knobs. It is currently located in our Preston workshop.
The pipework is currently unvoiced, providing a flexible foundation for completing the tonal design to meet specific requirements. In addition, the casework includes rear expression shutters. These elements make this organ especially adaptable whether intended for liturgical use, teaching, or ensemble performance.
Features of the instrument include:
Specifications (A=440Hz)
Wood flute 8’
Metal flute 4’
Principal 2’
Quint 11/3
Approx Dimensions (including blower box and wheeled platform) W1700mm x D700mm x H1500mm
Expression Shutters
All pipes are under expression with the shutters controlled by a knee lever. This allows much finer control over expression than more static casework designs, making it a versatile instrument capable of handling a greater breadth of repertoire.
Customizable Tonal Scheme
The tonal design and specification can be customised to your stylistic requirements.
• As the pipework is not yet voiced, the tonal palette has some scope to follow different styles of voicing (eg Germanic, French, English, Classical, Romantic) constrained only by the physical limitations of the parts and pipes.
• Options exist to replace the Quint 11/3 with either a Quint 22/3 (11/3 bass) or Mixture II.
• Should greater flexibility in temperaments and/or pitch be desired, the addition of tuning slides to the open metal pipework and/or a transposing keyboard will afford these options.
