Triumphant Return of the organ at Hamilton Uniting Church

A photo of a pipe organ looking at the pipes from over the top of the console. Two keyboards are visible, and the pipes are surrounded by a mid century style decorative screen. Refurbishment of the organ by Pipe Organs Victoria.

The Hamilton Uniting Church pipe organ is back in action after a bit of a hiatus thanks to some water damage in 2019, and unexpected delays (thank you Covid!) in repair works. We’re thrilled to share that Pipe Organs Victoria has been hard at work, and as of 2023, the organ is once again leading the congregation in worship.

It started with a full refurbishment of the console. We installed new key contacts, thumb pistons, stop key units, and a new display for the capture system – rejuvenating the console and improving ease of playability. Plus, we have now added a upgraded switching and capture system that’s going to make life a whole lot easier for the organist. And of course the Pedal Bourdon Windchest, which got a complete refurbishment to replace the water-damaged note actuator magnets.

After some thorough testing, tuning, and regulation to make sure the instrument was in tip-top shape, it’s sounding fantastic! The parishioners couldn’t be happier, and the organists relieved to finally have an instrument to play.

We want to give a big shoutout to the friendly folks of Hamilton, and the entire Hamilton Uniting Church community for including in this exciting journey. It’s been an honour to help bring your beloved organ back to life, and we’ve loved every moment of our stay in Hamilton.

So, here’s to the power of music, community, and a whole lot of patience. The Hamilton Uniting Church organ is back, and it’s ready to make beautiful music once again. Cheers to that! πŸŽΆπŸ™Œ
